I Thought I'd Share...

Yes, I'm posting a hockey wallpaper. :P But I have good reason. ;)

I used a technique in this one that I thought turned out really well, and I thought I'd share my success with you all. :)
(As usual, click all of the images for full size.)

Notice the goalie...he sticks out. :) What I've done is made the background of the picture he's in transparent, but I left him at 100%. If you have a photo program that you can outline and select objects in and can change the transparency of a layer or photo, you can do this.

Outline the object that you want to keep at 100% and copy it.

Then change the transparency (in PhotoShop, it's called opacity) of the whole photo to the level that you want it to be. Once you've done that, create a new layer and paste the object that you copied on top of your transparent layer. In my Adobe program, it automatically places it in the same position that you copied it from, but if your program doesn't do that, you'll have to position it where you want it.

And there you have it!
Hopefully, I've taught you something new and useful. :P
Now it's up to you to finish your masterpiece with your own creative minds. ;)

New Wallpapers

While most of my recent creations have to do with hockey (you can skip over to my blog to view those masterpieces of my obsession :P), I do have some things that aren't...and therefore, they might actually interest you all here. :P

4-H Graphic Design Contest Entry

Hi!
I posted about this on my blog, but thought I would share it here as well:

I used Microsoft Digital Image Editor, PhotoImpression, and Photoshop to create this...I thought I would share the different layers leading up to the final result! :)

The First Layer (it's actually a fabric picture I found online*)
*In this contest, it's okay to do that, in case you were wondering. :)

The 2nd Layer

The 3rd Layer

The 4th Layer (I softened the edges of each of the li'l 4-H cloverleafs to give them the illusion of being submerged in the soup)

The 5th Layer (we're almost to the end!) :P

The 6th Layer

The 8th Layer (I skipped the 7th layer because all I did to that one was add the text)

Ta-da!! The 9th layer! If you're still with me, congratulations! ;) And if you got up from your chair yawning, that's okay, too! :D
Hope you have a great day!

I'm teaching myself watercolors...

Today in town I bought myself some water-coloring supplies, so I am teaching myself how to paint with watercolors. This is my first real attempt, so I thought I would share it with y'all.

I call it "Seasons' Change"

Of course the colors are a little distorted, but I got them as best as I could.
